Day 18
Blog Post #19 – January 18th, 2020
My daughter is getting married in May of this year. I had not purchased my dress for the wedding, until today. We went to Nordstroms just to see if they still had a bridal department. I use my Nordstroms card to pay the filing fees of my cases and earn points. I figured I would just wait until February 1st to buy my dress. I had looked on line earlier and found a dress in the bridal department that would be perfect. I thought they had a bridal department in the San Antonio store and wondered if they had the dress here. So we were just going to see if there was a bridal store here not to look at dresses or buy anything. When we got there the store was totally remodeled. No bridal department and no dress. As avid watchers of Say Yes to the Dress we should know better than to just grab dresses and try them on without looking at the price tag first. We had already made this mistake with her wedding dress “oh we will just try some on then come back later to look for real closer to the day.” Ha! she comes out of the dressing room looking like a goddess, mom cries, daughter cries way too expensive dress is purchased. So today we try on like 15 dresses just to see how it goes. You guessed it we found the perfect dress that costs way more than my points. We worried that this dress would slip away too. We ordered it. The good news is that because it is Nordstroms I can return it if need be due to budget constraints. Lets see how things work out by the end of the month.
I think I see now how easy it is to let it get away from you. I am constantly asking my clients what are you doing with your money? Well buying wedding dresses you can’t afford, buy artisan meats, for grilling, buying pretty sweaters for your dog, buying mother of bride dresses way in advance, and all manner of other unplanned life events. This is hard, really hard.
